Our Story

Words of Hope Africa began as a mission to those suffering from HIV/AIDS in the villages of southwestern Uganda. It soon became clear that those widowed and orphaned due to the virus were especially vulnerable.

Through the help of University Baptist Church in Mbarara, Uganda, and the funding support of people in the United States, a team of people sought to empower Ugandan widows and orphans by helping them form community groups in their respective villages. Groups of widows gathered to encourage one another, pray with one another, and financially support one another through income-generating projects.

Today, Words of Hope Africa has a 10-person Ugandan staff who oversee 7 community groups, lead a theological training school with 35 pastors, run a center that houses 15 orphans, and operate a primary school with over 50 students enrolled. To God be the glory!
