Equipping local church leaders is central to our mission. This is because we believe it is central to the mission to which Christ has called all Christians (Matt. 28:19-20). To this end, we conduct several training workshops and seminary-like courses for pastors and other church leaders throughout the year. At present, we have thirty-five students who are engaged in a three-semesters-per-year theology program designed with local Ugandan church leaders in mind.

Words of Hope Africa began as an outreach to those ravaged by HIV in villages scattered across the Southwest region of Uganda. In tandem with expert medical care and advice, holistic care was offered in the form of counseling, prayer, and income-generating projects. Groups of widows and orphans quickly formed in the villages in which we ministered and, in many cases, continue to meet weekly for fellowship and mutual encouragement. We see our role as helping to facilitate these gatherings so that hope can be restored and local Ugandan communities can flourish. James 1:27 tells us that “pure and undefiled religion before God” is, in part, to visit orphans and widows in their affliction. At Words of Hope Africa, we are dedicated to meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of widows and orphans through the building up of Christ’s church.

Community Work

Born out of the idea that hope is the greatest of all renewable energy sources, the Hope Center encapsulates our vision for what we believe is possible throughout the Southwestern region of Uganda—thriving, self-sustaining communities that act as places of refuge for widows and orphans and a means of blessing to surrounding villages. Located on 8 acres of farmland minutes from Mbarara town, the Hope Center is home to several widows and orphans and a primary school. Plans to expand the ministry of the Hope Center are in place, including the addition of several new children’s homes, a small chapel, and a medical clinic.

Our Mission:

Words of Hope Africa (WOHA) exists to mobilize local churches to empower the powerless so that the Body of Christ will be transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus.
