Words of Hope Africa (WOHA) exists to mobilize local churches to empower the powerless so that the Body of Christ will be transformed more and more into the likeness of Jesus. We seek to accomplish this task of empowerment by teaching sustainable living practices to widows, offering HIV prevention courses and literacy courses to villagers, praying with those who hurt, educating locals on how to counsel the sick and dying, and training pastors in sound doctrine and practical leadership principles.
Much like Jesus’ words to the woman at the well in John 4, Words of Hope seeks to offer words that will enable Africans to take responsibility for what God has entrusted to them. Living water, water sufficient for every need, words of hope, words sufficient for every need, is what Christ offers. Our mission, more than just to alleviate short-term poverty, is to give Africans these spiritual and physical tools offered by Christ and his church to alleviate their own spiritual and physical hunger and, subsequently, the spiritual and physical hunger of those that follow them.
